Myrtle Beach State Park

Myrtle Beach State Park is absolutely amazing, we have camped there two years in a row now. First time we stayed there was Spring Break 2019 and we liked it so much we booked this (2020) Spring Break there as well. Turns out I’m not minding the fact that my wife tricked me into buying a camper! 🙂

The 2020 trip will always be memorable, and so the park will always be very special to us for the following reason: March 2020 was when everyone started to panic about the coronavirus. Our oldest son was able to come down with some of his teammates (their 2020 lacrosse season ended abruptly during our trip) and we had a nice cookout.  This is also the trip when I decided to stop shaving and grow a beard!

Myrtle Beach State Park Amenities

The website for the park has all the details, but in a nutshell, the park provides:

  • Tent and RV camping. They all appear to have fire rings, water and electric, quite a few have sewer hookups.
  • Fishing Pier with store
  • Camp store that sells firewood, snacks, drinks, ice cream, souvenirs, some camping supplies.
  • Handicapped beach access
  • Ramp in upper parking to unload your golf cart/motorcycle
  • Picnic tables
  • Pavilions
  • Nature trails
  • Bathrooms/Shower houses.

Overall, it is an amazing park.

What is close to the park?

Costco is about a 15 minute drive.

Food Lion is right across the street (South Kings Highway).

Campers Inn RV of Myrtle Beach is just south of Myrtle Beach State Park. Fully stocked with supplies, can do repairs. All the staff was really friendly, sales staff just let us wander through the lot, crawling around and under the inventory. When we go to upgrade to a fifth wheel I wouldn’t be suprised if I rolled down there to do the buy.

There is a Camping World not too far from the campground.

Several resort campgrounds are just south of the state park.

Ocean Lakes and Pirate Land are just south on South Kings Highway.

We had some family members staying at Ocean Lakes, so went down and had a cookout. It’s a huge place and looks like fun for all. We had a blast zipping around on gold carts checking out the mix of beach houses and campers throughout the facility.
